Once a month or so, we’ll send you a short update about what we’re working on, where we’re playing, and how we’re resisting fascism, one fabulous chord at a time.
We’ll also make you a mixtape – which sounds so much more exciting than “here is a link to a playlist.” Bonus: liner notes! The general vibe will be like us: irreverent yet earnest, feeling our feelings, living out loud. Joyful, sexy, raw, unapologetic, authentic, chaotic…and willing to put it all out there and see where it goes.Without further ado, here is the “news” portion…
It may still be winter, but we’re already actively working on making Pride Season 2026 the queerest, most radical, and most unashamed we possibly can!
We’ve got a few gigs booked… No details yet, but we are MAJOR teases, so suffice to say that there’s certainly gonna be some Queer Pride going DDown, if you know what we mean.
More in the next newsletter! And if you’re organizing a Pride / CSD Event that still needs a FLINTA*-fronted Queer Alt-Pop Band, please get in touch!
New Music Alert
OH WAIT IS THAT AN ALBUM TITLE REVEAL? YES IT IS!!!
The artwork will change, this is the draft we gave our designer, but yeah! Here’s to our first album! Here’s to…
DANCING IN THE DARKROOM
It’s almost a year since we released our Dreams EP and… It’s a strange feeling to see how much we’ve grown as a band since then.Like, the songs on Dreams were great for a year ago, but also we want the music we play live to match the music you can listen to in the wild.
You’ll be the first to know when there’s a release date.Until then, to hear what we really, truly sound like… Well, come to our gigs!
Mixtape 1 & Bonus Ramen Recipe
OeA Music’s resident Facilitator of Awesome (FOA) gave us a challenge: What are three songs that inspired you to play music?
This led to an extended group chat, which spilled over into a band dinner – coincidentally also inspired by the FOA (hence the recipe).
This is what we came up with…which, shockingly, isn’t something that lends itself to a traditional mix. Much like us, it isn’t easily categorized, is kinda all over the place, but taken as a whole actually makes total sense. 🤣
So we suggest you put it on shuffle and treat it not as a mix, but an MP3 player on chaos mode: a musical library where everything is there because it speaks to you somehow…but always an adventure in random.

★
Melissa Ferrick – Drive The reason I bought a bass. Such a simple song, drums and bass and voice… but oh, how she moves.
★
Faithless – Insomnia In the late 90s, I had a brief but intense stint making techno on microLogic and a Roland XP-10 (nothing of which remains, I think) and this song was why.
★
The Cranberries – Linger I went to a Choir! Choir! Choir! event just days after Dolores O’Riordan died and we did this song. That night is what made me want to sing.
Elfyn
★
The Libertines – Up The Bracket The 2000s indie explosion was the reason I moved to England as soon as I was old enough
★
Regina Spektor – Aprés Moi She showed me the weird and wonderful things you could do with voice and piano
★
Ella Fitzgerald – Too Darn Hot Ella Fitzgerald – Too Darn Hot: my music teacher got me into jazz singing, and I loved Ella the most.
Markus
★
Birdy – Skinny Love The first song I heard over and over and over again when I had my first and only MP3-Player to this day. I was like really young, didn’t understood the text or English at all but I knew that she sings so beautifully, that it touched me deeply. And little me was like: Someday I want people to feel just like that when I make music.
★
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Don’t forget me literally the first song I ever played in bass, even when I played chords. I think it was kind of a test from my first bass teacher who I loved so much as a teacher. He just showed me the one chord shape and was like: “Just go with the flow.” And I remember closing my eyes and doing just that – going with the flow.
★
David Bowie – Space Oddity The first song I just figured out playing by ear without chords, tabs or anything. Took me a whole week to get it close to the record. But I was soooo proud to play it the first time and knowing that anything I just played was a legit cover like a Jazz musician would do it. And my mind was so blown away, to realise “Wow, a song can be more than 4 chords?!” Even the first song I showed a dear friend on guitar
